mouse anti-mouse antibody ? - (Feb/08/2008 )

Hello everyone,
I purified a mouse protein. I want to produce monoclonal antibody. Can I also use mouse for the immunization?
Thank you.

i never saw such case. Usually mouse antibodies are raised in donkey (for secondary ones) and in rabbit. You may consider the possibility of goat immunization.

Yeah, I don't think that would be possible unless U find a mouse type (?transgenic) that does not express the protein.

Is chicken immunization possible?

It should be some species that will immunologically to that protein.

Thank you,
The same as I think.
But one of my labmate succeeded in doing that. He only do polyclonal Ab.

He immnunized the mouse with a recombinant mouse protein. Then he do a western blot and see a band with expected size.
I did not see his data. That's what he told me. The mouse protein is predominantly expressed in the testes, so I think it's possible.
