HeLa cells - safety concern - (Feb/04/2008 )

Hi. I m new in cell culture.

I know that HeLa cells is widely used as cell model. But i have just read the ATCC web and it is claimed that HeLa cells contains PAPOVAVIRUS.

Is it dangerous? Will there be a chance to get infected? Any extra precautions other than gloves?

HeLa cell line is level 2 biosafety - _HERE_ you can find some information about precautions.

Follow the safety protocols and you will be fine.

Just don't drink it
