How do you show your appreciation to the person you respect?

He is the one who does not talk much and avoid meeting with me. He don't want to discuss thing including personal matters. I do not know how to show my appreciation to him even though he did a good things to me. At least he just know that I am thanking him.Shed me some lights.

Doing domething nice for him is always a good way to show appreciation....
You can bring cookies or cake to share with him. or a very small present.....

I completly agree with vetticus. don't complicate your life. it is a bit frustrating when you bring your boss stuff, in my case chocolates or candies, and they he/she tells you" thank you but i don't like sweets" or stuff like that
