One More Year in PhD - (Jan/21/2008 )

Dear Friends
can you suggest me some thing.
I am working in another city while my university is in another city where living environment for me was not friendly so i moved to new city for working in very good group. In one year i worked a lot and I finished my PhD project and now writing my dissertation and preparing publication as well. My contract was for one year and it has been finished now so i have to move back to place where i cant live happily. and i can not stay in this group because they want to have one more year in PhD or little bit increase the IF.
I am very much fixed now.
can you give me advice.
1) Defend PhD this year......................
2)To have one more year in PhD and defend next year.........................
3)I donot have any problem of funding. Just the lady to whom i am working is slave and preparing me also as slave.
4)I am not very much expert of my field, I donot have expertise in different areas but ability to pick and learn soon is my quality.
5) I am currently in east europe and donot have any plan to live here and would like to go some where else.
what you will suggest me.

To answer Q1 and Q2, you may need to list the advantages and disadvantages, then decide which one gives you the best outcome.

Q3. Are you happy with the woman?

Q4. Read reference books, such as molecular cloning, current protocol

Q5. Just curious... What part of East Europe?

not that my opinion is worth anything but i recommend that you defend as soon as possible. the less time it takes to complete a PhD, the better it looks.

then go on to a postdoc. there you will gain expertise and you can change your venue (and you will learn what true slavery is).
