pectin production - an alternative for alcohol precipitation - (Jan/18/2008 )

i am engaged in producing pectin however i was wondering if there is an alternative for alcohol precipitation ........say probably using ammonium sulphate to precipitate the pectin in a more efficient manner ????

you can precipitate pectin with aluminum salts, detergents and some proteins (i don't know which) if you don't want to use alcohol (which is the standard method).

i don't think ammonium sulfate will work.
