Drug treatment enhanced cell growth? - (Dec/16/2007 )

I have been drug treating some suspension cells along with one set of untreated control. However, the ones which are treated with the drugs seem to be growing better than my untreated control.

The drug that I am using is a CDK-inhibitor,Roscovitine. Cell line that I am using is an EBV-positive Burkitt's lymphoma cell line.

How is this so?

I really hope someone can help enlighten me on this.

Thanks!

I have been experiencing the same problems with some HT29s. During a cytotoxicity assay, I'll find that the cells treated with the smallest amount of drug (generally nM range here) are actually growing better than my control cells! I haven't been able to find anything to explain this phenomenon- but it certianly screws up my results to have to report >100% viability. unsure.gif ANY advice is welcome!
