western blotting - for longer exposures (Dec/10/2007 )

hallo,

i´m looking for the "best" chemiluminescence substrate for western blotting experiments beyond ECL (longer detection period and stronger signal....).

there are some different on the market (ECL plus (Amersham), supersignal west dura (pierce)...)

but which is the best substrate of choice, when signals are faint?

we normally use millipore's ECL reagent and if the signal is weak, we would use the amersham after a brief wash on top of the millipore. This seems to give us better signals.
