DNA methylation with dimethyl sulphate - (Dec/03/2007 )

Hi Everyone!

Does anyone know methylating efficiency of dimethyl sulphate on DNA treated in vitro?
I am looking for some data about DNA methylation with DMS, trying in vitro experiments.
How is the level of methylation at the N3 position of adenine, N7 a O6 positions of guanine,
expressed as 1 modificated base per how many healthy bases, respectively,
or briefly percentage of modificated bases.

Thanks a lot

Be careful with this stuff!! It's ridiculously toxic, mutagenic, carcinogenic, etc. Are you sure you don't want to do something safe, like skydiving? Seriously, why aren't you thinking of enzymatic techniques? They will be much more selective and essentially non-toxic.
