Antibodies for immunohistochemistry and cell ELISA - Are they the same? (Nov/22/2007 )

Hello experts smile.gif

Is it safe to say that when an antibody is applicable for immunohistochemistry (as informed in datasheet), it is also applicable for cell ELISA?
ps. by cell ELISA i mean the cells are grown in polylysine-treated 96 well plates and then subjected to ELISA (fixed with formaldehyde, permeabilized with Triton, blocked, incubated with 1st and 2nd antibody etc).

in general, maybe.

if the sheet specifies ihc but not elisa then it may not have the avidity necessary for elisa.

Depend on the antibody. You have to test to make sure.
