have you spilled cafe or water on your keyboard? As a temp solution, use the on screen keyboard. If you are using windows, go to program->accessory->accessibility->on screen keyboard.

-bioforum-

buy or borrow a keyboard and plug it into your laptop... until you wish to upgrade your laptop.

it happend to me before
as Minnie said, i burrow the missed letter from any site
and for Word writing or forums, i used screen keyboards

don't know why this happens to keyboard, but this is temporary!

if you have to buy a keyboard, I'd suggest you something like this

-ila-

what is the name of this kboard, ila?

or you could copy paste the n from an old word file.
(My space button was no more working, I had to do that until I got a new keyboard)

The one in the picture is produced by Elektex. I don't have idea where to find it and how much it costs.
Anyway, if you search the net for "portable keyboard", "rubber keyboard" or "fabric keyboard" you will find a lot of interesting solutions.

Yank off the broken button and see if there is hair or something else stuck underneath it. They snap off and on, but when you do it it will feel like your breaking it. Don't worry, it will snap back on. If the keyboard is really broken you can pick a new one up on ebay for cheap (probably $30 or less) and replace it yourself. Buying an external keyboard for your laptop would not be a logical solution when you can easily fix the problem...

First, grab a can of compressed air and blow out all the accumulated garbage in your keyboard. This usually takes care of the problem.

If that doesn't work, you can set autocorrect to convert something never used, like "vb" to "n." I use this trick to comvert "uL" into "µL, "uG" into "µg", "uM" into "µM" and "&*" into "°C" automatically. Once you set up autocorrect in Word, it will autocorrect in Excel as well.

Otherwise, go to your computer supplier and order a new keyboard. They are easy to replace.
