... and while we're at it, do you think it is possible to add a comment from each of the other threads/topics, so we can have a single thread that encompasses the entire forum universe ... ;-)

Hi swanny,

I'm definitely getting better at homing in on your dry wit and sarcastic humor. Please pardon the way my threads/posts blend into each other…the entire forum universe…I like that…just like my brain…with convoluted paths and intertwining vines…hard to figure out where one begins and where one ends. But I like to think that there is still an intricate design and a coherence over all. It only appears confusing to an already confused mind such as yours biggrin.gif . V says we can snipe as long as it's funny.

here's to the entire forum universe....take that multi-universe Copenhagen interpretation

has anyone checked out the links in post 54 and 57... just by looking at the names, i'm assuming they're run by a bunch of loonies. can anyone confirm that?
i don't have the time to go through it.

hey, let's keep this thread here, just for casandra.

posting in the wrong forum is ok, we can move it to the right one.
but, if you post in the wrong forum, and it gets moved, don't copy the entire thread and repost in back into the forum from which is was removed... again, and again, and again.

it doesn't matter if there is no way that a threat can be carried out... just don't make 'em in the first place. this isn't the place for internet tough guys to flex their muscles.

I agree with V, this is a site for sometimes scintillating but sane, sensible and scientific discussion (all that alliteration and I can't come up with an "s" word for discussion). Besides Dave had the gall to complain and try to get our god-like moderator Vetticus banned or removed from moderating just because she moved his thread to a more suitable topic.

How about "symposium"?

-swanny-

I have a brief point - and Cassandra, please don't be torqued at me because this is not meant to be inflammatory, merely an expression of the way that I see this website

this forum was intended for open discussion, but it's not a democracy. it was created by Bioforum and is monitored by Bioforum and by a group of moderators. there is no first amendment here guaranteeing free speech - if people are being harassed, abused, tormented, and/or pummelled by someone's posts, it won't be tolerated. hard-and-fast rules are almost impossible to nail down, because taking offense is such a subjective thing.

judgement calls are made by moderators on a case-by-case basis; it's all situational. I suspect if we (the moderators) went around kicking people off for pretty trivial stuff, then Bioforum would remove our ability to moderate. the thing is, this forum is many things, but it is not a place for someone to go around launching tirades and being rude to other members.

-aimikins-

Hi, thanks for continuing this discussion and Aimikins, I promise not to throw a stage tantrum. I like this forum, in fact, it`s the only science forum I actively participate in (imagine me everywhere in the virtual world). wacko.gif If I didn't like the moderators and the members I won't be lingering bec I can get the answers/help I need somewhere else.

This is our community and I know that for it to thrive we should follow a set of rules largely based on mutual respect and the golden rule, so self-evident as pointed out by Vetticus. But what happens when a member breaks the rules, what do we do then?

I have no issues about enforcement or the meting out of "consequences". If the decision was arrived at with care and deliberation, after everything is cautiously considered and weighed... and not as a show of power and with the element of gloating….I'm cool with it. We want justice not revenge.

Actually I`m not defending what dave did…being rude, belligerent, insulting and condescending etc. In fact for making threats give me a giant spiked club and I`ll beat him myself. But given my warped imagination, why do I feel that the decision to ban was made so easily and that the most expedient thing to do was to get rid of the trouble-maker and the problem is solved?

If it were me..I just broke up with my boyfriend and I'm on a rampage and this forum looks soo ripe for trashing, would you have summarily ban me? Hopefully not, at least it wouldn't be so easy (I had some good moments smile.gif ) or maybe someone might speak up for me or give me a good thrashing so I'd realize the evil thing I'd done. And this is what I mean. I'm not even questioning the "punishment"..he's got to do the time. But still, I believe in second chances, in atonement, in redemption as much as I believe there's goodness and beauty and truth. And before this gets any sappier which would really result in its being moved to chit chat…I will take a bow for now.

Vetticus, I’m sorry if I made you feel defensive or at least forced to explain away that decision. I respect you a lot, you stick to your guns and it’s always a pleasure to “discuss” with you. But you sometimes get a bit extreme and I’m a borderline bleeding heart liberal…so that’s where the fun begins. And that dave…the grief he's caused grrrrr. Give me that club again...

cheers,

casandra

depends if the boyfriend is cute or not.

the decision was made by bioforum, not me. i just forwarded the pm's i had to the great bioforum, and the rest is history.

anyway... back to evolution.
what does this have to do with chemtrails? will chemtrails give me superpowers?

Perhaps the Illuminati are conducting large-scale and large-organism modified Ames tests to see if evolution can actually be directed...

swanny (I agree about Mad-onna. I always preferred to listen to music...)

right then, sign me up. i want evolution to make me fly, to start a manual car without stalling, invisibility, and psychic powers. if these Illuminati are anything, surely they can do these little things for me.

What!!! Do you think I`m that shallow? Of course he's cute (I believe in beauty remember?)…but there's definitely something wrong with him 'coz he dumped me sad.gif . I’m so lucky to discover this at the nick of time…

So we're back again to the cute and cuddly Bioforum. It finally dawned on me what Aimikins said about this forum not being a democracy. Of course it`s not… it`s actually a benevolent dictatorship. biggrin.gif I have to get that in first before I eat this yucky humble pie.

After the cobwebs in my mind had been cleared and I’ve been enlightened by facts surrounding this case, I’m apologizing to our wise Bioforum for raising doubts about the fairness of his banning decision. Meanwhile, I will go find the biggest club and go clubbing (or is it clobbering?) bec. someone really deserves it. I may be a bit borderline, blabbering, bleeding-beart biberal (my alliteration is much superior than yours Bob wink.gif ) but I'm drawing the line somewhere. However if I may add, I still believe in forgiveness, atonement, redemption (here in Canada it’s called rehabilitation) but only if there’s genuine remorse and a desire to redress the wrong that was done. If there’s none then let’s go clubbing....

trying to sort out my entire forum universe,

casandra
