temp. controlled centrifuges? - (Jun/15/2004 )

Hi,

I am buying a centrifuge for a new cell culture suite. At the moment i imagine it will be primarily used for concentrating cells prior to making freeze downs. So a regular centrifuge should be fine? I was wondering if anyone could think of any application for which i could need to have a temperature controlled or refrigerated centrifuge. I prefer to buy big at the start than upgrade later.

thanks

I always use a temperature regulated centrifuge for protein concentrating filters and for blood samples that we get in from time to time. I've always found them to be highly useful (especially if the heat block goes down and I need to do ligations at 16oC!)
