proteolytic processing - (Oct/31/2007 )

Hi there,

Sorry for the dumb question but does proteolytic processing just mean how the protein is produced?...How it comes about? The process by which it is formed?

i think it specifically means how it is cleaved from a precursor protein by a protease or series of proteases.

After a protein is produced, it can undergo different proteolytic processing so that it goes from an inactive to an active state or vice versa.
