Hi there,

Just wondering what spp stands for?

Here is the sentance in which it is used..

3 variants of the C4 cycle depending on spp.

Possibly species?? I have seen it abbreviated like that before....

After the gender, it means all species.
For example Streptococcus spp, means Streptococcus sanguis and S. mutans and S. pneumoniae ... and so on, all the bacteria whose gender is Streptococcus.
I don't know if it helps.

in this context it seems like several species of one genus are having different C4 cycles.

as far as i know it stands for species plural
