good statistics program - (Oct/17/2007 )

Would someone please recommend me a good statistics program?

I always use SPSS. The only problem is that you need to know the theory of statistics and the tests, because otherwise there are just too many possibilities (you need to know which test you have to use).
An other program that is bit like excel but with more statistic possibilities is Kyplot (you can also make nice high resolution graphs with this program, better than in spss)

If you don't know much about statistics I would suggest you use Prism as it is easy to use, makes nice graphs and has a very good handbook!

We just got Statistica at work. I haven't tried it out yet, have you much experience with it?
From the grumbling I hear coming from the Biostatistian's area I am beginning to think it may not be "user friendly".

Yeah..SPSS is widely used...but there are also some others that can be used. I agree with erica...it's hard to deal and understand...really need expert help and guidance.

i have a very old version of statistica and don't really use it. back then you needed the manual (and maybe an additional book) to attempt to master it. as with anything else, if you use it regularly it will get easier.
