DNA methylation in leucocyte - (Oct/09/2007 )

Hello everyboby,

My boss wants to study conditions that lead to hypometlylation in DNA. So, I need to choose 10 genes that are usually methylated in leucocytes (DNA from blood samples) and evaluate if there is hypomethylation in these conditions. The problem is: I don't know were can I find this information (If the gene is methylated or not in normal leucocyte). Does anybody know any gene that is generally methylated in leucocyte? Can you help me, please?

Regards
Anna

Hi Anna,

you can have a look at the epigenome project where they have looked at genome-wide DNA methylation in a range of normal tissues and I am sure a number of blood cell types including leukocytes were analysed.

just google the "human epigenome project".
