Can you buy pirates programs easily in your countries??

Here in Mexico you can buy any CD music or mp3, DVDs for less than 2 dollars and any informatic program for less than 5 dollars. Actually, you can ask for expensive bioinformatic programs and you’ll have it next week.
You can buy it everywhere, in all markets, in the streets, in the subway and so on!!!

Is it different in your countries?

Not in US. And I would guess, not in any advanced countries like western european, s.korea and japan.

For a very good reason!

In Japan it is not that easy. There are copies around as everywhere I guess, but you will ever see them on the street, trains, or any place like that. Here they take rules very seriously....... mellow.gif

So you have to bring your owns rolleyes.gif

Im in the UK and havent had a problem finding science software,

South Asia and East Asian Countries - U can get collection packages of many software at around a dollar or less. A package may have whole Adobe collection, Microsoft softwares, anti-virus programmes, etc etc. List is inexhaustible. Think of it and U may find it. I guess most of them come from China but not sure.

There are so many freewares that can be downloaded that only very less softwares U need to buy pirated, I feel.

Aren't it illegal to sell and buy pirates copy of software/video? ph34r.gif

yup, it is but software companies do things that just make you feel so damn angry

aka... My lab purchased the license to VectorNTI... (2000 GBP). Then when Invitrogen bought Infomax over, the license agreement was considered void and null. The key to the prog was connected to the machine code... so when the lab computer had a major breakdown and had to be retired, we lost the programme. Boss had a very angry and heated talk with the Invitrogen, but we didn't get anything aside from helpfully being pointed to the free version of said programmes that needs to be re-registered yearly.

I am quite sure this is probably all legal and above broad, else they wouldn't dare do this. But such behaviour tends to lead one to being more then a little rebelious. (if not disgusted)

well i know in thailand it's easy too, but in france you can't buy illegal products in street and so.
But illegal peer to peer exists also, and for instance there is no barrier against illegal download. A law is prepared, foir checking all downlads for more than 70Mo. All illegal content will put you in red list.

Here, it’s suppose it’s illegal, but you can see “pirate stores” in front of the police and government offices!!!

I’m against piratery, but I must confess, little time ago I couldn’t resist the temptation of buying some CDs and DVDs and an expensive computers program too. blush.gif

In Italy, or at least in Rome, you can find CDs, DVDs, Play station games etc quite easy: streets, subways ... people sell them even at the beach!
But for illegal copies of programs it's "more difficult": not all the underground stops have it! wink.gif I mean you can find them but not as everywhere as music CDs.
