RPMI instead of DMEM - (Jun/20/2007 )

Hi, Has anyone used RPMI in growing fibroblasts? What do I need to be careful about?

Generally Fibroblastic cell lines will grow in either RPMI or DMEM. Primary isolated fibroblasts are more fussy and you should always consult the literature. The most important thing to remember is " Is the marker (receptor/enzyme/released product) affected adversely by using either media's. And " Does the marker truly represent what happens in the in vivo situation".
