How did it happen? Did you always just know that you love science? Do you regret the choice?

When I decided that I wanted to be a scientist. And I decided to be a scientist when I was about 2 or 3, all due to the television series McGuyver. blush.gif
However, it was only much later in A levels that I decided to go into biology, genetics rather then chemistry, metallo organic.

In PhD project? Rather often really. Although on good days I am kind of happy that i learned the skills to build about any plasmid, put to paper. And in someways I am still on tract for my ultimate goal. But things could be better. On very bad days, I quite often believe I should have become an engineer or an accountant.

I've just always wanted to have that Dr. in front of my name.
I was always interested in science, but didn't love it or want to be a researcher.
Nope, no regrets yet smile.gif

Research only when you know you are a very curious type of person. I personally think I like to find out how things work.

With the strong desire of finding out, you will know you wouldnt go wrong to do a PhD. happy.gif

Hi....
i am not in Phd yet...but will be starting september.
I am not really sure if it is that what I want.... but for the moment it seems to be the logic step to follow (something to do the next 4 years and money). I love finding out about things, but I also want to have the time to do some other things....Everyone say that if I want to change, now is the moment...but I feel a little bit lost there.
Never regret been a biologist, I actually love biology. I just would like to balance things....if there is a way. blush.gif

i like discovering!
i think it feels good to research what you are curious about, but most of time you have to work on what your boss are curious about, and it is awareful when you two goes different direction...

any way, arguement is a part of a researcher's life...haha... dry.gif

dry.gif well, cant ever remember thinking i really want to do a PhD. Just kind of happened.
did not want to be in the job i was in and felt like a change.
Some days I am really happy to be doing my own research and running my own project, other days on angry.gif i wish i was doing something easier and less time consuming.
But no regrets- life is just too short.

i got bored with every other job i had... in research it is constantly changing, or can be if you really want it to. science is like a puzzle that never ends.
