necrosis - (Jun/03/2007 )

I used DNA ladder assay to detect the DNA fragmentation. How can i create a cell population which died by necrosis to have the smear band on gel agarose?
Best regard!!!

necrosis, depending on your cell line, may be, for instance, induced by short-term heat (45°C), UV-light, hypoxia, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs etc

I read somewhere in a journal that they use UV-light to make the cells undergo apoptosis...
so, UV caused apoptosis or necrosis?

both is right; DNA damage induces apoptosis but very high dosis kill cells by necrosis;

about apoptosis and necrosis in general, try
