synchronization of the infection - (May/14/2007 )

Hi, everyone
I am confused by this Sentence, Plates were then spun at 1,000g for 5min to synchronize the infection.
Bacteria used in the experiment was L.pneumophila.
As we all know, it was not big enough to spin the bacteria at 1,000g .So, what this synchronization exactly mean???
According to my opinion on this procedure, they want to allow the bacteria to reach at the cell surface at the same time. Am I right?
Thank you in advance

that makes sense to me...if the cells and bacteria are spun together, they'll be in contact at about the same time
