polimorph markers in inbred mouse strains? - microsatellites or any PCR based suggestins are wellcome! (May/10/2007 )

Hi there,
I've already asked this question in the Genetics tpoic but nobody answered me so I 1ll have a try here also.
Is there anyone experienced in distinguishing two mice from the same inbread strain? In fact, I'd like to differ F1 mice whose parents are deriving from different strains (DBA2J and C57BL6J), but can I find any difference between the pups if the parents are different animals? (Like DBA2Ja male and C57BL6Ja female has for example F1a1,a2,a3,etc pups, and like DBA2Jb male and C57BL6Jb female has for example F1b1,b2,b3,etc pups, then will be any difference between the "a" and "b" pups, and also between "a1", "a2" and "a3" etc pups?
Cheers
J.

There should be no difference between any of the pups. However if you were to make DBA2Jb female and make C57BL6Jb male you would have sex chromosome differences with the F1a males being different than the F1b males. The females would still be identical. You would see lots of differences in the F2 generation with either your breeding scheme or my breeding scheme.
