What does the term "selection of a colony of bacteria" mean? What does it involve?

i think it means isolation of single isolated colonies bearing the same size,color etc (phenotype) from a mixed flora

agree with arvinsign, it's the selection of a specific colony which could be located with other colonies (in a Petri dish for example)
