Expect the unexpected. Never know, maybe you can get your results today itself. or even the next seconds. wink.gif Good luck!

Same thing has been happening to me! 2 years in and nothing.
I found that all my techniques were at fault because my first supervisor taught me all wrong. I'm now starting to get results (In my third year but still), try going back to basics, it can help and is better than flogging a dead horse!

i have to defend my thesis after 1 month and a half and i still have NO results wacko.gif wacko.gif and no publication

I would suggest taking one day off from doing experiments. Analyze everything that you are doing compare with protocols found online and with other people in your department, don't leave any stone unturned and then criticize the experimental design. You didn't mention anything about the type of work that you are doing but typically if one goes a long time without data they tend to get increasingly frustrated and make mistakes dooming them of success. If you take this time out to analyze versus agonizing at the bench it might help you out.

Best of luck.

some thesis, especially those with an "all or nothing" topic, such as purification or isolating something, which means where you have it or have it not, one has to be patient as it often bears some difficulties or, in the end, some impossibilities;

sometimes, hypothesis are wrong; bad thing, if your supervisor believes in the hypothesis and you have to fulfill it; nearly impossible beside you falsify your data but this ought never happen!

try to find a nice side project which is not too ambitious, and where your boss may not be adept; often side projects proceed better than the main project...

thankx everybody
i will work and wait, i have nothing else todo, bearer i dont have the chance to get a side project , i already changed 3 topics till now , of course not me .....my professor.

-spanishflower-

dear spnishflower, as I was changing my topics endlessly and wasnt getting anywhere, i advise you to talk to your professor and write all the plans and actual expectations down. insist on sitting together and putting down a realistic plan (with time table that you are able to work within). good luck!
