Oil Red O Staining? - Can be done in 6-well plates? (Apr/15/2007 )

I have 3T3-L1 cells and now they are at day 3 of differentiation.i will do oil red o staining after fully differentiation. But all protocols that i've read say, fixation on a slide. So what can i do?Start the cell growth from beginning on a slide or can i do this staining on 6-well plates?

Thanks for your interest.

Can anybody help me about storing Oil Red O stock solution.Where and in which type of bottle and which conditions do i have to store the Oil Red O Stock solution?

And also in which wavelength do you suggest for readin?

Thanks for any help.

The stock solution of ORO is made in isopropanol and is stable for 1 year. You can put it in a glass bottle. It does not require any particuliar conditions for storage, as far as I know.

The wavelegth for reading is between 500 and 550 nm.

I stained adipocytes by oil red o in 6 well plates several times and I got good result.. so I think there's no problem...

I do the staining on 6-well plates, that's good.on a slide?I do not know if it will influence the differentiation efficiency of 3t3L1 .
