Human dive reflex - (Mar/25/2007 )

Hi there

can someone please give me a useful website (not wikipedia) or book for the above topic..all i know it has something to do with the receptors on your skin and body trying to conserve O2

I have never heard of a "human dive reflex" -- could you give us some more information? Do you just need a definition? How is it used? Otherwise the best we could probably do is Google it just like you...smile.gif

it's ok our class got some good notes on it the other day so that will be enough for me to understand...the human dive reflex was an experiement in which we held our breath in a bowl of cold water for 30 seconds and measured our HR--i think the purpsoe of the lab was to see how our body changes when it thinks we are "drowning" and how 02 is conserved..

I didnt read the whole thing but somewhere I remember someone writing something about dive reflex and supra ventricular tachycardia. Does anyone know?
