transduction - change of morphology (Mar/23/2007 )

I haver realized that my Mesenchymal stem cells changed morphology and growth rate after transfection with a retrovirus, does anyone see the same? does anyone know why? Thanks.

Applying high titres of virus has been harmful for our SHSY5Y cells too. But this was mainly observed when the cells were plated at a low density.

As we are expressing a particular protein which the cell doesnt actually require, could cause reduced growth rate. Some viruses actually shut down the endogenous protien production and instead direct the production of only the foreign protien.
