cell culture - a beginner - (Mar/19/2007 )

I am planning to perform some cell culture with the aim of performing ChIP. However, I have zero experience in the field of cell culture, and noone in my lab is experienced with this method. I wondered if anyone could point me in the direction of any good online protocols/resources for a beginner like me, as although search engines provide a wealth of information, I am not too sure which are best to follow.

You surely know that you need a laminar flux cabinet happy.gif

Next, if the cell line comes from ATCC, they provide the best medium and serum concentration for the cell line. THey also give a minimal protocol for you to take care of the cells. Otherwise, all informations about cell culture should work. It is pretty simple smile.gif

Hope that helps, and if not, precise your questions tongue.gif

Thanks.

Yeah, I know that I need a laminar hood!
I really meant that I was looking for any trusted 'general' protocols for sub-culturing, trypsin treatment, maintenance etc. I've had a look at some of the protocols on here, and they are mostly similar to one another in terms of content. I'm sure I'll be able to make something sensible up from a combination of them!
