software for colocation analysis - (Mar/15/2007 )

Hi!

I'm interested in confocal microscopy colocation analysis. Could you tell me about some free software for this kind of analysis??
Thank you!!

I thought, software for analysis usually comes with a confocal microscope. You wouldnt need an extra one for colocalization analysis other than what was supplied.

hi,

ImageJ

with Input/Output plugin for opening of your files, and Colocalization Finder plugin

Please make sure that you are looking at true co-localisation. In the images shown by Tryptofan the green and red images look very dodgy i.e has the image been collected via sequential scanning. This is very important in that the emmission spectra's for both FITC and TRITC are close. If you do not sequentially scan the sample, the green (FITC) can be excited by the red laser and false co- localisation can be seen.

Hi!

I do sequential scan in confocal microscopy to make sure there is not interference between both fluorophores.
I've downloaded the software... thank you!!! (now I have to learn how to use it... laugh.gif )

try Imaris (www.bitplane.com); ask for free trial, or the cheap student version
