what is the mechanism of transformation of a plasmid into a bacterial cell?

u mean during an in-vitro transformation expt?
i think it is that the cells are made competent.. ie ca2+ attached on membrane to give it +ve charge. the plasmid binds it. when pores are made into the membrane using chemicals like detergents or something.. plasmid enters the cell.
i hope i m making correct sense
