How to react? - (Feb/05/2007 )
ok i have already posted but now i am really angry. so forgive me if i repeat myself. 
i have to finish everything and get a paper accepted in april and still didnt submit it. in order to submit my PI thinks we should get better results using neuronal culures. the problem is that i have no experience with type of neuronal cultures they do here. also i have a big problem in killing mice..
anyway i tried many times and i failed. i dont know what to do. today he was supposed to help me with my culture. in the morning post-doc comes to me and says: "please teach me how to do your cultures" 
so I tell him:"I dont know it myself, i need someone to teach me". and his reply:"PI sent me to help you since he is very busy" 
Am I over-reacting or what??? so me and post-doc (who has no idea of doing that type of neuronal culture) sitting there, spending 3 hours and got nothing to culture. I know i cant do the cultures, why on earth he sends post-doc who also has no idea to help me!! I think i am just losing my mind over this. WHEN are we going to submit this paper!!! Is it reasonable to wait till I excel in this culture so I can publish?
i think it will not be a good idea to wait for new resultssss

try to make ur prof to understand ur situation
ur scholarship will not extend after march i think
It has to be some miscommunication in here. Maybe the professor sent him/her to help you to kill the animal. How about go around and beg someone who knows how to do it right help you and buy this person a lunch aferwards. Your problem sloved and you have one more friend.

some time it is really great to learn a new technique, sometime you don't have time.
in both case you need to find someone who know how to do it, unless you will only do bad things.
In your case the best would be to find a good collaboration.
thank you everyone. that is the problem, there are three poeple who know how to do the culture: one masters student who has NO time to help me as he is graduating this week, phD student who has already graduated and doesnt come here anymore and PI himself who has no time or patience to help me.... so i am waiting till next week (everybody will be graduated) so that I can talk to my PI. but this is so unfair, we are missing the dates that we set.
and no, he doesnt know that I have a problem in killing mice (I can survive 2-3 cultures of killing them, I will not do that for life, so have no intention of telling him). so he sent post-doc to wash his hands and keep on concentrating on the graduating students.

If yes, explain to him your situation...may be he is willing to come in and help you...just remember to buy him a present.

and she helped me a lot already. I wanted to ask her but her boyfreind had an accident and underwent operation in his head it was pretty bad. she just managed to make thesis defence on time, poor girl... but i think from next week she will be coming here more often, so I"ll try to ask her....yesterday i had a chance to talk to my PI: he sais it clear: no paper before new data is finished...
