immunoprecipitation of whole bacteria - (Jan/30/2007 )

Hi there,

Does anyone know if it is possible to perform something like an immunoprecipitation of whole bacterial cells.
I would like to specifically enrich for a certain subpopulation of a mixed culture - FACS is not an option in my case.

Our lab looked into beads on a string impregnated with antibodies. We would have needed our own MABs to affix to the bacteria then have the beads w/ an AB affix to the bound MABs.

We would have then washed the beads and then placed the beads in growth media.

We didn't go much past that and the project was killed so I can't be any more help.
