HEK293 and tight junction - (Jan/27/2007 )

Hi, could anybody tell me whether all the epithelial cells could form the tight junction,
how about HEK293? could this cell line form tight junction?
If HEK293 could form, how about its TEER when the tight junction is well formed.
Besides, Where can I find the TEER of different cell lines?
Thanks a lot!!

it cannot be seriously maintained that ALL epithelial cells form tight junctions as not all epithelial in biology are analyzed; think also of of epithelial transgenic cell lines w_o TJ genes...

if you like to establish in vitro epithelia with cell lines use MDCK (renal) or Caco-2 (colonic), both are a standard to measure trans epithelial resistance (TER) incl. trans epithelial electric resistance (TEER);

TER is not only a matter of TJ but also of adherent junctions and cell-matrix interaction

The bearer, Thank you very much
At first, I had thought to use MDCK as the cell line, but for two reasons, I changed to HEK293, firstly, no MDCK is available, secondly, someone had already use MDCK for invasion.
It is my own wishful thinking to use HEK293 as the Transwell invasion cell line.
