How to select a cell line? - (Jan/18/2007 )

i want to ask a basic question.
Before doing cell stimulation , how to select a cell line?
Although i have tried some kinds of cell lines, the result is not very good.
I want to see the Rho-kinase level in the cells.
Thanks.

the selection of cell line is dependant of the antibiotic resistance carried by the DNA you've transfected. So you must play with different antibiotic concentrations. If results are not ok, you'll have to prepare cell clones to obtain an homogeneized population of cells.

as understand you like to know which cell line should be chosen to analyze Rho kinase; as Rho kinase is an important organizer of actin cytoskeleton, each cell line with sophisticated morphology (e.g. neurons) should be prefered; try to find references over Pubmed which cell lines are "hot" to demonstrate Rho kinase; as I know Rho kinase is ubiquituously expressed, you should have found Rho kinase in your previous experiments
