apoptosis - induce apoptosis with albumin, what use to inhibit apoptosis? (Jan/15/2007 )

I'm going to induce apoptosis at LCC-PK cells with a overload of albumin. Now I'm looking for a sheap chemical to inhibit apoptosis induced by albumin. I prefer a chemical which is available in most laberatory (school-lab). Does anyone know a good chemical to inhibit apoptosis?

i cannot think of a common chemical which could prevent apoptosis. This might b quite difficult.

Unless u want to induce apoptosis by glutamate toxicity and preincubate the cells with some NMDA channel blockers. But this is not the same.

plan has changed, teacher didn't approve.

New plan: to induce apoptosis with TNF-alpha and inhibit it with a TNF inhibitor. But I can't find a protocol/ article on how to do this. Does anyone know a protocol or the concentrations and time for TNF and TNF inhibitor?

Thanks...

Best to search the literature or check the data sheet on TNF might give you some hints as to the starting conceentrations.

i havent used TNF, so cant help there .

Good Luck !!!

You may look into antioxidants, simple chemicals or enzymes that break down reactive oxygen species. Free-radicals generated by TNF treatment contribute to apoptoisis.

apoptosis can be blocked f.i. by blebbistation or cytochalasins, however, then cells may undergo necrosis; in your study you have to distinguish between apoptosis and necrosis
