2(ii) and a PhD - (Jan/10/2007 )

Hello everyone
If someone had second class degree and then obtained an MSc and a PhD. Will he/she be disadvantaged from getting jobs in the future. He/She has 4 good publications, 2 as first authors.
Any advice and suggestions welcome
Thanks

i dont see how it would be of any disadvantage - Many people with first class honours who are very book smart struggle with the practicalities of lab work. Also people are a lot more mature by the time they attain their PhD and I think future employers would look to most recent performances rather than BSc results.

I would think that any future employer would only be interested in a person's latest/highest qualification. In this case a Doctorate... which now takes preceedence over any pass degree the person migh have had... be it BSc, A Levels, O levels. etc

It is an advantage for finding research based job^^
But it is a disadvantage to find jobs outside research~~

People only pay attention to your recent achievements, such as publications.

I won an award in first year of my undergraduate study and most employers don't care about it...only few care.

pretty good record, I don't see disadvantage at all. he should not be worried.
