transfer gene to protein? - (Dec/22/2006 )

how to transfer one fasta file of genes to a file of protein. please don't tell me to do it one gene by one gene.

Yes. translation. I have one fasta file containing thousands of gene sequences. I wish some software can translate all the genes to proteins by one time, and save them in one fasta file.

Well, I don't think its that simple, first, you have no indication in your fasta file about the frame information. Unless you start each sequence from ATG and the program take that as an assumption. Or it will used the first ATG and infer ORF from that.

Second, different species have different translation table, encoding might be different. so the assumption is that you have all genes using the same translation table.

If you need a small program, I am happy to help you write a small software to do this.
