Starving cells for stimulation - (Nov/23/2006 )

Hey everyone

I'm having a problem sad.gif need to stimulate my cells for 48 hours....but beforehand I have to starve them to get them in to the same part of the cell cycle. This causes a problem because they all die after 48 hours in starvation medium!

Does anybody know if it is possible to starve the cells over night for the cell cycle and then to put them back into full media to stimulate them?? I'm just wondering does anybody know of any reason why I should or shouldn't do this! and will it actually put them in the same part of the cell cycle?!

Thanks a mill smile.gif

may be no need for re-stimulation with full medium; perhaps sth is specially known about survival of your type of cells; sometimes special coats or a special growth factor will help

Great thanks for the advice... the cells are Caco2 cells so if anybody knows about any growth factor or coat that I could use please tell me!
