Promoters databases... - Anyone knows? (Nov/16/2006 )

Hi, there.

I wonder if anyone knows about a database to analyze promoters sequences of any gene. I'm interested in searching which transcription factors are involved in the expression of several proteins, basically of cell migration-realted proteins.

Thanks a lot.

Regards.

I used to use a program called Patch. It searches for consensus cis elements (the promoter sequences that transcription factors bind to) in your sequence from a database called TRANSFAC. This site is pretty neat if you're interested in transcription factors. It has a few programs on it including Patch. Go to the programs tab and you can find it there. Just check how old the program is, that would be my only concern.
