Primer Design software - (Nov/16/2006 )

Hi,
I plan to design PCR primers to amply my gene of interest about 660 bps in length. Can I rely on a free software tool like Primer3 and oligo? Could anyone give me an opinion based on past experience, which is the best tool that I can use?

Are commercial software any better then free tools like Primer3?

Plz help.

Try with MacVector, great software. Download the trial version and enjoy it.

Hi,
My problem is that I dont have a Mac and neither I am that computer savy.... thats the reason for using web based Primer3 for pcr design. Any suggestions?

Try with free trial version of DNASTAR. It's for PC too. Just need register.

What about Vector NTI, its free and very useful to work with primer design

primer3 does an excellent job in picking PCR primers

I second methylnick. Primer3 is the way to go in my opinion.

I tried DNAstar. It's powerful but also longwinded and has some minor bugs. Primer3 is free, easily accessible.

and in my opinion Primer 3 is better then the primer designing program in Vector NTI
