Fungus infection - Clean up CO2 incubator (Jul/09/2002 )

Does someone has a protocol to thoroughly clean up the CO2 incubator contaminated with fungus ? Please help.

A late reply:
We used to have this with one of our incubators. For some reason it was the only one of the seven incubators which got infected with fungus. Cause is still unknown after several repairs, tests and cleanups. So we used a product which is kind of agrassive against spores: GoldSpore. It contains formaldehyde and paraformaldehyde (realy rotten stuff to work with). After washing the incubator with ethanol, Sinkal ,water and ethanol again it seems we eliminated the cause without knowing what it was.

I can help you in avoiding this type of probelm again if you could email me the full details like incubator type, etc.

I have had similar experiences.

Yes.

Use a 90 Deg C Wet Air disinfection Program or 180 Deg C Hot air disinfection routine.

These are available with Heraeus Incubators Models Heracell and Cytoperm.
