E.Coli culture contamination 2 - (Oct/11/2006 )

Pages: Previous 1 2

Hi all,
It seems that we have overcomed the problem, since we did the exhaustive cleaning of the lab, and more important, since maintenant people has done the cleaning of the aeration chambers of the building. I am pretty sure that THAT was the major proble because through the conducts the contaminants had been spreading among the lab. With the analysis of contaminations we only find different kinds of bacillus, but I am sure that our cultures were killed because of phages, as a colateral effect.
So I recommend all to have the lab clean, and I am not referring to sterilize, autoclave, because all thesethings we did regularly..and no way, if there is a focus of contamination entering constantly.
Another option would be to work under an UV chamber, but we don't have in the lab, we work in the flame.
Thanks for the replyings and hope all the cultures grow!
