primary antibody for neuron - (Oct/03/2006 )

hi...
i'm culturing rats neural stem cells and will identify the differentiate cells through immunocytochemistry. can anybody suggest what is the primary antibody to be use?
thanks....

look for something like tau, NeuN or btubulin. this should be neuronal markers (in mice, so you have to check anyway).

Dedee is right, but I would like to add more important marker, GFAP or GLAST biggrin.gif, a glia marker. Because your cells can differentiate both neuron or glia, right?

thanks kobrain.
But I'm quite confius between marker and antibody. As i know, theres a lot of marker for neural stem cells like GFAP, Nestin, Anti B tubulin and so on. But I don't know what is the primary antibody to detect them.
thank 4 helping me.

Tuj is what we check for..nestin too...

Actually, until now there is no primary antibody to detect them. You have to combine these markers to determine your study. The more you test on these specific marker (glial/neuron), the better evidence you get in your result!
Hope this help a little! smile.gif
