Accelrys Discovery Studio - a software for protein modelling - (Sep/29/2006 )

Hi everyone,

I'm using a variety of software to model proteins and came across Accelrys Discovery Studio via a google search. BUT there's a bit of a problem (as always in bioinformatics rolleyes.gif )

I can't get hold of it for downloading. I think I may need a license to install the program on my computer. Does anyone have a version of Discovery Studio so I can install on my comp? I'd really appreciate any help regarding this software.

Thank you in advance!

Sara

The reason you can't get hold of a copy is because you are supposed to pay for it and need to contact the company (look on the right hand side of their web site).

Why do you need to use their protein modelling stuff - all it does is implement modeller WHICH IS FREE.

My supervisor's been banging on about how I need to use the analysis features to mutate certain proteins and see the effect on substrate specificity so I thought I'd use Discovery Studio.

You think modeller will be ok?

Thanks

pymol works just as well, and it's free too
