Why is it difficult to PCR taget gene in rice successfully ? - (Sep/26/2006 )

They say the genome of rice is very different to PCR,
which has a high CG ratio and many repeated sequnces as well.
so designing a primer is not easy.
is it all right?
tell me please ,thanks! ph34r.gif

I have a friend who is doing a population study on Rice. Extracting DNA from rice is difficult because till now, he has not found a kit that work and he has to do it manually without kit.

I don't think it is hard to PCR if you have the right primers and all the PCR chemicals. Maybe designing a primer could be abit difficult because of the repeated sequences.
