hello again,


this might sound stupid but i just got some iptg, and i know its in powder form--do i dilute it with milliq water? seriously, this is my first time with all this bacteria stuff....

According to the sigma website:

Reconstitution A stock solution (0.1 M) is prepared by dissolving IPTG in water with subsequent sterile filtration of the solution. The final concentration of IPTG in indicator plates should be 0.2 mM.

A good idea is to start reading the booklets or instructions that comes with the chemicals, when one is available. If not, the web-site of your provider may have the instructions. Or in case of a common chemical, any provider website (and the sigma one is usually very good in my experience) can do the trick
