Estrogen detection assay? - (Sep/05/2006 )

Hi All,

I wasn't sure which forum I should post this in but here goes. I'm currently looking around for a sensitive assay to detect environmental levels (picomolar or lower) of estrogens in chemical extracts. We've been testing a reporter assay based method utilizing MVLN (stably transfected with an ER reporter construct) but the level that we've detected significant luminescence is only in the 100 picomolar range (1x10-10) or higher. Could anyone recommend another more sensitive method for detecting total estrogens? Cell assay based or not, it doesn't matter as long as the sensitivity is there and hopefully isn't too cost prohibitive.

Thanks!

Maybe an analytical method like mass spect or HPLC using an internal control (known concentration of estrogen ) or standard curve may help.

hope this help
