should dead cell detach? - (Jul/25/2006 )

hihi

I am culturing cells on poly-lysine and laminin coated coverslip, i found that many of my attahced cells are dead (stain with trypan blue).... although they don't look like completely attached and seems a little bit round up, they ARE attached and ARE attached even after immunostaining....

I am wondering should cells detached when they are dead????

or is it different when using coated coverslip???

thank you very much for any suggestion!!

hi,
in my view dead cells should detach after a while, coz cells loses its integrity. since ur using polylysine or laminin, we can expect little bit of debris sticking around, but whole cell can't stay around for long time.

payeli.

The dead cells with detach, its just a matter of time. Even with coated coverslips, its the same.
