official database for cancer-related genes - (Jul/24/2006 )

Does anyone know an offcial database or a list for cancer-related genes? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Try this link:

If you select OMIM from the drop down menu and type "cancer", you should get a large number of hits. Each hit will specify the gene invloved in cancer.

Hi,

I think gene ontology information can be used.

First, go to advance search of godatabase

http://www.godatabase.org/cgi-bin/amigo/go...9179b1153778220

and type something like tumor to search in GO terms,
this will supposedly give some GO terms, and you should check the corresponding genes, this is not too much feasible, I admit...

However, I have a database where I merged gene information with ontologies, I searched the term "tumor" in molecular funciton field; 30 genes come with that:

you can increase the search by using some additional terms like proliferation, cancer, angiogenesis etc, although it will take some more time with GO search tools...

p.s: If you like the idea, I can make some further searches and put the list here...
