Good book on cell culture - (Jun/23/2006 )
I am considering buying a book about cell culture. I am working in the lab and interested in cell culture background, protocols and tips. Does anybody know this book or should I buy another?
Culture of Animal Cells : A Manual of Basic Technique by Ian Freshney
Thanks
Yeah I've read parts of that one ... it's pretty good. One I've come to use a lot is a much shorter book, but I think it's written really well.

I own the book mentioned above:
Culture of Animal Cells : A Manual of Basic Technique by Ian Freshney
Its a great text which you'll want to keep around as a resource. I've gone back to it many times for recipes etc., and its often loaned to coworkers for the same reason.
Freshney's is the cell culture text to have where I am...which is also Freshney's territory..Glasgow. Short enough to be a decent reference text yet detailed enough to troubleshoot problems when you are knee deep in media and your cells are in turmoil.
Good reading!
Dear Plan B,
Ian Freshney's book is the tissue culture BIBLE, you will not find a better one. I refer all my new students to it because it goes right back to first principles.
All positive replies so I have ordered a copy. Thanks
